RITA REDAELLI
Dr. Rita Redaelli is senior researcher at CREA - Research Center for Cereal and Industrial Crops in Bergamo and is leader of the Near Infrared Spectroscopy Laboratory. After graduating in Biology at Università di Milano, her activity focused on cereals. She described the patterns of wheat storage proteins (gliadins and glutenins) by electrophoresis and studied the association of specific components to technological quality. She completed these studies with a short-term grant (six months) at INRAE, Montpellier and with a one-year contract at the Food Science and Human Nutrition Dept., Michigan State University. She also worked at breeding programs for oats and registered in Italy two naked oat cultivars.
In her present activity, she applies NIRS to the determination of maize grain composition and silage nutritional value, and to the development of calibration curves for specific traits.
